About us

We are a small dedicated team that prides ourselves on experience, depth of knowledge and teamwork. With over 100 years of combined experience, there is little or nothing that we haven’t encountered.

When dealing with antiques, we pride ourselves on the conservation aspect of our work, ensuring that we only use materials, glues and finishes, that are appropriate to the age of the piece we are working on. This ensures that all our work enhances, not just the appearance of the piece, but also its intrinsic value.

That said, we are equally at home repairing modern and contemporary furniture. Dog chewed furniture legs and flood damage are par for the course in a normal working week. We really can take care of anything!

John Hubbard - The team is headed up by John Hubbard, a second generation antiques dealer who, after working in the family business since 1968, started on his own account in 1974. He became known as one of the most prominent dealers in the Midlands until his semi-retirement in 1999. Since that time he kept on the restoration department that had served so well for the previous 25 years.

Paul Williams -  Studio manager: Paul started with the firm in 1984 as an apprentice polisher and has been at JHA ever since. Paul takes immense pride in his work and oversees all the French polishing and leather lining work. His reputation, skills and knowledge are well known throughout the Midlands and beyond.

Roy Perry - Workshop Manager. Roy has worked for the family firm for over 20 years. His skills cover general cabinet making, carving, veneering and wood turning, although he is also invaluable for repairing metalwork, brazing, welding and lock repairing.
